Page 1 of 3 I interviewed Lawrence Schimel and Ismael Attrache after they were legally married in Spain August 9th, 2007. Schimel writes and edits gay literature, such as Best Date Ever:True Stories That Celebrate Gay Relationships and The Drag Queen of Elfland: Short Stories. Schimel and Attrache work as translators. They share their experience with us in this candid interview. GLM: When & where did you get married? S&A: We were married just outside of Madrid in Coslada. GLM: Was it a big wedding & reception? S&A: No, we wanted it to be very intimate, since we were getting married for us. Later, we had a party so friends could share with us the happiness of getting married. GLM: How did you meet? S&A: We met online, and decided to meet in person that same afternoon for a drink to continue talking, since we both type all day for work (Lawrence is a writer, Ismael is a literary translator) so chatting online can leave us all typed out for the day.
GLM: What type of ceremony did you have? S&A: We had a civil ceremony.
