Page 2 of 5 3) How do you believe your music career would be different if you had remained closeted? Deadlee: I think my lyrics would have been a lie, and it would not be as real. I think anyone in the arts needs to really try to be faithful to who they really are. Tori Fixx: I believe that I would've been much more successful by now, as far as reputation and financially but I know in my heart that I would be struggling with trying to remain closeted musically and I don't think I would be very happy. Foxxjazell: It would be less substance but more commercial. Melange Lavonne: I probably would be still trying to make it and struggling to make a name for myself like a million other women in this industry. In this music industry it’s all about kissing a** with who you know or its all about who you've screwed. Since I've done neither, here I am. Shorty Roc: If I remained closeted, I probably wouldn’t even be a rapper. When I started rappin, I knew I wanted to rap being who I was and not hiding who I was, and make music to entertain my community as well as awareness to mainstream society. 4) What's your opinion of how Tyra Banks treated the GLBT rappers on her show? Deadlee: Tyra is a great straight supporter to gay people. She understands that we have a greater struggle to be heard and taken serious in the hip-hop world. Tori Fixx: I was very happy with Tyra. I only wished we had a chance to perform and "prove ourselves" to the world. I really wanted to show people that we are just as talented, if not more than, folks like Kanye West and the 50 Cent's of the world. I'm still hoping we get to do a follow up show with her and just a bunch of the "gay hip-hop" superstars. LOL. Foxxjazell: I was actually on the show. I love Tyra because she brought so much light onto the situation. She did more justice than what Jerry Springer does for the community.
