Page 2 of 2 Gaylaxicon moves to Washington, D.C. in 2008. Per Barrett Brick, publicity maven, planned events include “an art show, autographs, a charity auction, costuming, dancing, a dealer’s room, discussion panels, gaming, guests, local events, a masquerade, parties, readings, video programs, and much more!” The guests of honor are award winning author Geoff Ryman (Was, Air, Lust) and award winning artist Alicia Austin; additional guests will be announced. I took the opportunity to ask him a couple of questions about why you should consider going to Gaylaxicon 2008. Catherine: “What do you think Gaylaxicon contributes to sf/f fandom as a whole?” Barrett: “To fandom as a whole, Gaylaxicon contributes a multitude of GLBT perspectives on fantasy, science fiction, and horror. It provides a comfortable environment in which fans of all orientations, including heterosexual, can interact.” Catherine: “What do you think is the best reason to attend Gaylaxicon?” Barrett: “There are as many reasons to attend Gaylaxicon as there are fans. There is something for everyone, whether novice or hardcore fan, and whatever your interest. And Gaylaxicon is the only con focused on supporting and promoting the GLBT science fiction, fantasy, and horror genre.” And there you have it, folks. See you in D.C. next year!
