I’m sure there are a lot more transwomen in history, but I wanted to highlight a few as part of this women’s history issue. Terri O’Connell was a motor sports champion as James Terrell Hayes. Her book, Dangerous Curves was released in 2007. Her website is http://www.goterrio.com/
Dee Palmer was a member of the rock group, Jethro Tull, as David Palmer. She is a British music arranger and keyboardist. To learn more about her, visit the David Palmer page on the Jethro Tull website.
Reneé Richards is known for winning a case in the New York Supreme Court against the United States Tennis Association, which banned her from playing as a woman in the 1976 U.S. Open because she had transitioned from Richard Raskind to Reneé Richards. Also, she coached Martina Navratilova to two Wimbledon wins. Second Serve and No Way Renee:The Second Half of My Notorious Life are her two autobiographies.
Sergeant Major Joanne Rushton began her military career as Joe Rushton. After transitioning, she became the first transsexual to serve in the British Army.
